    Name: Get Schooled: Bats
    Date: October 25, 2019
    Time: 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM EDT
    Event Description:

The Get Schooled series is designed as a fun interactive way to teach youth about the environment, history and recreation here in Prince Edward County and how it relates to what they are learning in school. This program is open to everyone who wishes to be an ambassador of the environment! Don't know who or what an ambassador of the environment is? Guess you will have to come find out.

The time to Trick or Treat is almost here. Jack-O-Lanterns are taking over porches as colorful leaves begin to blanket the yard they so proudly shaded. The nights are getting long and dark making it hard to notice the frantic feeding frenzy taking place right above our heads. Another reason this nightly feast is going unnoticed is because bat species are becoming endangered. The Virginia Big-Eared bat is on the federal endangered species list. It is important we understand our bats so we can help the species recover. This is your call (in bat terms "echolocation" call) to be an ambassador of bats.
