National Kids to Parks Day- Fish & Bike Edition

Celebrate Kids to Parks Day with the following activities.

Baiting hooks and Bending poles: We think it's time to take the kids fishing before they get old. We will start at 9 a.m. with fishing under the iconic High Bridge at the banks of the Appomattox River. This free event will go to noon and teach kids basic fishing skills. Bring your own gear or borrow one of the parks. For the younger kids we will have Backyard Bass Fishing and other activities. If 16 or older you are required to have a valid Virginia fishing license.

Biking is the most popular recreation activity at High Bridge Trail and this year we want to share the fun of biking with our kids. Join us at 2 p.m. at High Bridge Plaza in downtown Farmville for our "Ditch the Wheels" and MB 101 programs. Ditch the Wheels is a program that helps parents and kids take joy in the first bike ride without training wheels.

Already riding without training wheels? Ready to hit the more advance trails? MB 101 is a mountain biking course where you will learn and use new skills on one of our many trails.

Geocaching is also available all day with exciting prizes. Bring your lunch to enjoy in the shady picnic areas when between programming.
