Business Smarts - How to Create a Marketing Message That Connects and Sells

You’ve got a great product or service, one that could make a huge difference to your target market. The problem is your market isn’t listening. How do you create that marketing message that gets your audience to sit up, take notice, ask questions, and buy? In this 90-minute workshop, learn the foundation for creating a marketing message that connects and sells. Then work through the basic template for structuring that message. By the end of class, you will have the foundation and basic skills you need to create multiple marketing messages that connect and sell.

Speaker(s): Susan Vincent: Susan owned a small day spa in Staunton, VA called Body & Soul Day Spa, from 2000-2010. She grew the business by 35% at the height of the US recession. She sold the business in 2010 and embarked on learning more to help small businesses thrive and grow. Susan now handles copywriting and consulting for many small businesses both locally and across the US.

Parking for Business Smarts @the IceHouse: Permits are required for the JMU Ice House Lot. Parking Options: 1) You may park in the Water Street Parking Deck, one block from the Ice House, or the City Municipal Lot on Liberty Street. 2) Two-hour street parking is available on Bruce Street, across from the Ice House. 3) In order to park in the JMU Ice House Lot on Bruce Street, you must display a JMU Parking Permit or an Ice House Temporary Parking Permit. The permit will be date specific and should be displayed on your vehicle dashboard. To pick up your permit, pull up in the circle at front of the building and go into the lobby, where Parker Mercer or SBDC staff will hand you the permit. You can then proceed to the lot and park anywhere (note the handicapped spaces!) in the LOWER lot. Do not park above the signs.
