The Richmond Symphony Orchestra will present a free concert at Longwood University’s Jarman Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11. Conducted by artistic director Steven Smith, the program will include works by Frederick Delius, Zoltan Kodaly and Aaron Copland, including Copland’s popular orchestral suite “Appalachian Spring.” The symphony will feature Michael Adcock as guest soloist on Delius’s Piano Concerto in C Minor. The Longwood University Camerata Singers will join members of the Richmond Symphony Chorus for a performance of five of Copland’s “Old American Songs.” The concert is sponsored by the Cook-Cole College of Arts and Sciences and supported by a gift from Longwood alumnus and benefactor John Cook ’52.
