The hike will cover the .9 of a mile to High Bridge. Education Specialist, Bob Flippen, will present a program on the artillery used at High Bridge during the American Civil War, including a discussion about the four earthen redoubts that were used by the Confederates to guard High Bridge. Hot drinks and light refreshments will be provided by the Friends of High Bridge Trail. The First Day Hike is part of a nationwide movement to encourage the use of local, state and national parks as part of a healthy lifestyle. High Bridge Trail State Park boasted the largest attendance at the First Day Hike in 2012, come be a part of history again in 2013.
