Have you ever wanted to experience High Bridge Trail from the luxury of riding in a van? Now is your chance. High Bridge Trail State Park will begin van tours on the trail. This program will provide park visitors a sightseeing tour including the crossing of High Bridge. The program also includes a history lesson provided by the Park’s Education Specialist, Bob Flippen. The program is the Tale of Farmville to Burke's Tavern- The Evacuation of General Thomas A. Smyth.
The tours are scheduled to run the first and third Thursday of each month beginning in September and continuing through November. It will begin at the Osborne Road parking lot of High Bridge Trail State Park at 10:00 a.m. and will return to this location at approximately 3:00 p.m. The fee is $25.00 per person and is limited to twelve people per tour. A boxed, homemade lunch from Walker’s Diner in Farmville is included. Interested participants are required to make a reservation by contacting the park office at 434-315-0457 or email highbridgetrail@dcr.virginia.gov. Reservations will be taken on a first come, first served basis.
